A Line Grows and Becomes Independent

Section II. A to Želivského station was opened on 19 December 1980, so the whole of Vinohrady was connected to the metro. Five-car sets were introduced in 1982, and the A line got its own depot in 1985. The Hostivař depot ensured the A line’s independence from the Kačerov depot and eliminated the need to use the handling junction at Muzeum station. Turnstiles also disappeared throughout the metro in 1985, mainly due to complications with subscription coupons.
