Something big is coming: the D line. The Prague metro’s youngest line, the B line, opened in 1985. Since then, Prague has grown and has much greater needs. The D line will therefore greatly relieve the congested C line and, at the same time, become a showcase for the latest technologies, as well as quality architecture and design. Construction of the Pankrác – Olbrachtova section began on 21 April 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2029. A tender for the selection of the contractor for the Olbrachtova – Nové Dvory section is underway, completion is expected in 2030. Project documentation for the Pankrác – Náměstí Míru section is being prepared for a building permit. The long-term future of the Prague metro network is the subject of the draft Metropolitan Plan, which was publicly discussed in 2022.
